Chococo 50/50 Half Milk, Half Dark Easter Egg
- Available from Chococo (£47.50)

Rating: 5/5
This impressive egg is one of the most generous we tried, at a hefty 500g of chocolate. It looks impressive as soon as you lift it out the box (all plastic-free packaging, too), hand decorated by Chococo's resident chocolate artist and bedazzled in glitter. The egg is made of two halves – one side is 47% Colombia origin milk chocolate and the other is signature 72% Ecuador origin dark chocolate. The distinction between the two is actually relatively subtle but the chocolate has great snap and a satisfying mixture of textures, from delicate thin shards to thick and chunky pieces. Crack open the egg to reveal a selection of truffles inside including salted caramels, almond clusters and honeycomb bites.

Chococo (£47.50)
Hotel Chocolat Extra-Thick Patisserie Easter Egg
- Available from Hotel Chocolat (£34.95)

Rating: 5/5
The ultimate treat for chocolate lovers, Hotel Chocolat has something for everyone. These luxury Easter eggs are full of unique flavours. We particularly love the decadent Extra Thick range – hearty chocolate eggs full of a selection of truffles, all set in gorgeous tin packaging.
We tried the extra-thick patisserie egg made of half 50 per cent milk chocolate and half super creamy cheesecake-inspired salted caramel milk. Inside it's full of dessert-themed truffles, from chocolate mousse to carrot cake and treacle tart. If salted caramel isn’t for you, try their dark chocolate (£34.95) or tipsy truffles (£34.95) versions for a more indulgent Easter egg delivery.

Hotel Chocolat (£34.95)
Cutter & Squidge billionaire filled Easter egg
- Available from Cutter & Squidge (£29.99)

Rating: 5/5
This over-the-top egg is probably the most decadent one we’ve tried this year. Some Easter eggs may feel hard to share, but this indulgent number can certainly feed a crowd. The half chocolate shell is filled with a thick layer of salted caramel sauce (our personal highlight), shortbread pieces and a towering mound of creamy whipped chocolate ganache which is vegan, meaning you don’t have to store it in the fridge (the rest of the egg is not vegan). To top it all off it’s finished with chunks of buttery fudge, more chocolate eggs and crispy chocolate pearls. A showstopper that would make a fun alternative Easter dessert.

Cutter & Squidge (£29.99)
The Newt ginger chocolate Easter egg
- Available from The Newt in Somerset (£19.95)

Rating: 5/5
Dark chocolate and ginger is a delicious combination and one we hadn't seen in an Easter egg until this offering from The Newt in Somerset. The front half of the egg is generously studded with large pieces of candied ginger (we wish the back half had ginger in too!). The thick chunky egg is made of 72% organic dark chocolate that is well balanced (not too fruity, not too bitter) and has hidden chocolate buttons in the centre. We also love the pretty candy striped packaging and for a luxury egg, we're impressed at it coming in under £20.

The Newt in Somerset (£19.95)
Rave Coffee double layered chocolate coffee Easter egg
- Available from Rave Coffee (£27.95)

Rating: 5/5
The actual Easter egg here has limited decoration, but the fully recyclable packaging is fun. There are two layers of chocolate inside this generous 300g egg: creamy milk, and an inner layer of blonde chocolate. There is heavy coffee flavour throughout which balances the sweet chocolate and is rich and complex: notes of caramel and butter. The chocolate is super creamy and melts well on the tongue – lovers of good coffee will enjoy this, and we kept going back for more.

Rave Coffee (£27.95)
Fortnum & Mason Dark & White Chocolate Coffee & Vanilla Easter Egg
- Available from Fortnum & Mason (£35)

Rating: 5/5
This half-and-half egg is inspired by an affogato dessert (hot coffee poured over vanilla ice cream), combining a sweet white chocolate and vanilla half with a bitter dark chocolate and coffee half. Both sides of the egg are thick and satisfying to snap, with a relatively generous 230g overall weight. The white chocolate side is flecked with vanilla seeds for a rich and creamy flavour that melts slowly on the palate. The dark chocolate half is infused with Fortnum’s own Piccadilly blend coffee and is pleasantly bitter yet balanced, with a relatively subtle coffee flavour. Both sides are delicious on their own but also nicely balance each other when eaten together with opposing sweet and bitter notes.

Fortnum & Mason (£35)
Coco Chemistry Caramel Latte Easter egg
- Available from Coco Chemistry (£25), Not on the High Street (£30)

Rating: 5/5
A winner from Coco Chemistry (in their signature fully recyclable packaging), this is one of our favourite coffee Easter eggs we have tried this year. It has a base of blonde chocolate, which in some uses can become too sweet but here it is perfectly balanced by generous sprinkling of ground espresso beans throughout. This brings welcome bitterness to the sweet, caramelised chocolate with a thick and creamy texture.

Coco Chemistry (£25)
Not on the High Street (£30)
Selfridges The Malt Ball Blonde Chocolate Egg
- Available from Selfridges (£22.99)

Rating: 5/5
Another irresistible option for fans of trending blonde chocolate. Selfridges introduced its malt balls at Christmas and has used them here to generously stud the front of a rich, creamy blonde chocolate egg. The large balls have an intense malt flavour (whisper it – stronger than a Malteser) while the smaller ones add lots of crunch. Together they balance out the thick blonde chocolate well. The fun idea and neon pink packaging make this a great option for an Easter egg gift.
It is available in a salted caramel milk chocolate version, too.

Selfridges (£22.99)
Hotel Chocolat Nibbly Egg – milk to caramel
- Available from Hotel Chocolat (£22.95)

Rating: 5/5
This unique caramel-milk chocolate gives a new spin and we are big fans. There is a nice level of salt and the caramel chocolate has lovely tang, with good length on the palate. Little pieces of caramel add subtle crunch without being gritty. The egg also comes with six 'tiddly eggs' – caramel truffles with a caramel ganache filling, which are super rich and filled with a decadent caramel cream.
The Nibbly Egg is available in dark, white chocolate or vegan varieties, too.

Hotel Chocolat (£22.95)
The Newt in Somerset white chocolate & lemon Easter egg
- Available from The Newt in Somerset (£19.95)

Rating: 5/5
A rare white chocolate egg for 2025 that hasn't been turned into blonde chocolate! This simple, pretty egg has a sparkling white chocolate drizzle on top, a thick layer of white chocolate and hidden white chocolate buttons in the centre. Initially, we were sceptics about the combination of white chocolate and zingy lemon, but this egg fully converted us. The white chocolate has a really good melt and mouthfeel, with a refreshing lemon flavour that blends nicely with the chocolate, doesn’t feel jarring and stops the white chocolate becoming sickly.

The Newt in Somerset (£19.95)
Pump Street 60% dark milk chocolate Easter egg
- Available from Pump Street Chocolate (£44)

Rating: 4.5/5
Another Easter egg at the luxury end of the price spectrum, the quality of the craft chocolate shines through here, plus there's luxury presentation in the smart box. The hand-poured chocolate is super thin with great snap. The dark milk 60 per cent chocolate is well balanced and will appeal to many, being not too bitter but not too sweet. Fine nuggets of homemade chocolate chip cookie pieces are studded throughout with a pleasing salty note.

Pump Street Bakery (£44)
Melt pistachio and kataifi Breton egg
- Available from Melt (£69.99)

Rating: 4.5/5
If you're after a luxury Easter egg experience this year that will get the whole family talking, Melt is the place to go. Their designs are handmade in London and always stand out: we've previously marvelled at intricate eggs shaped like acorns or strawberries.
This year, the brand new range of Breton eggs caught our eye. These striking multi-flavour eggs are made up of striped segments with different flavours. It's got a hefty price tag at £69.99, but also adds up to a whopping 700g of chocolate – the largest of any egg we tried and perfect for sharing, actually making it impressive value-per-gram for a luxury chocolate handmade in London. The designer, plastic-free packaging in a smart box completes the experience.
The pistachio and kataifi egg is a flavour inspired by the viral 'Dubai' chocolate bar that is sure to be popular. Tiny pieces of pistachio add welcome crunch to the rich milk chocolate discs – the pieces could perhaps be bigger to make more of an impact and boost the pistachio flavour. The kataifi pastry pieces are in the creamy blonde chocolate side.

Coco Chemistry creme brûlée Easter egg
- Available from Coco Chemistry (£25), Not on the High Street (£30)

Rating: 4.5/5
Fans of white chocolate will know that blonde chocolate is a trending flavour we're seeing more and more in Easter eggs, but Coco Chemistry has tried something a little different with this unique egg. Transforming the flavour of a classic French dessert into an egg, this has a creamy white chocolate base with generous amounts of vanilla, and is studded with pieces of brùlée sugar for crunch and caramelised notes. The combination of white chocolate and extra sugar does make this on the sweet side, but it's still a moreish pleasure to eat.
The distinctive packaging is fully recyclable and can be found on the full range of Coco Chemistry eggs, including Caramel Latte and Dark Honeycomb flavours.

Coco Chemistry (£25)
Not on the High Street (£30)
Chococo milk chocolate nest egg
- Available from Chococo (£16.50)

Rating: 4/5
Another lovely Easter egg from Chococo that is slightly more affordable than the showstopper 50/50 egg above. The pretty speckled egg is made from thick 47% Colombian milk chocolate which is sweet and satisfying. The inside is studded with blonde chocolate eggs – we didn't get tonnes of the blonde caramelised flavour but it is a fun hidden surprise. Once again it comes in 100% plastic-free cardboard packaging.

Chococo (£16.50)
Daylesford Organic Muddy Tractor Easter egg
- Available from Daylesford Organic (£20)

Rating: 4/5
This is a great Easter egg for kids – but adults will enjoy it too! The egg has a fun swirled design of dark, milk and white chocolate, producing a decadently creamy and well balanced result. Inside, you'll find three fun chocolate tractors. The egg is made using sustainably grown organic cocoa from the Dominican Republic and the quality is clear when eating. We also tried the cute spotty egg design complete with felt toy, but slightly preferred the flavour of the tractor egg.

Daylesford Organic (£20)
Lindt LINDOR dark mint Easter egg
- Available from Lindt (£13.50), Amazon (£13)

Rating: 4/5
This 70 per cent dark chocolate egg has a good thin snap and a glossy shine. It comes with a generous amount of mint truffles which have a dark chocolate coating and smooth, creamy mint filling that isn’t super strong. If you love an After Eight at Christmas, this is the Easter egg for you.

Lindt (£13.50)

Farm Shop dark chocolate egg with cinder toffee
- Available from Farm Shop (from £12)

Rating: 4/5
This egg has a pretty speckled appearance and is studded with tiny, chewy pieces of cinder toffee (also known as honeycomb) made using Farm Shop’s own honey. The simple dark chocolate makes a good contrast to the sweet honeycomb. Plus, the egg comes complete with a bag of chocolate-covered honeycomb pieces perfect for sharing. It comes in two sizes, too, depending how much chocolate you are in need of...

Salcombe Dairy milk chocolate Devon Primrose egg
- Available from Salcombe Dairy (£29.50)

Rating: 4/5
Salcombe Dairy are a bean-to-bar chocolatiers in Devon, who make all their eggs using all natural ingredients with organic, fairly traded cocoa nibs from Peru. The eggs are packed in biodegradable card, also designed and printed in South Devon and this year, for every Easter egg sold, Salcombe Dairy will donate £1 to Brain Tumour Research.
The milk chocolate Primrose egg has a really pretty, hand-decorated design inspired by Devon hedgerows which is lovely for spring. The chocolate is sweet, smooth and creamy. It comes in a presentation box with a whole box of blonde chocolate truffles filled with a golden ganache – would be great for gifting.
Available from:
Salcombe Dairy (£29.50)
Melt hazelnut and popcorn caramel Breton egg
- Available from Melt (£69.99)

Rating: 4/5
Another flavour in the luxury Breton egg range from Melt mentioned above, this was equally popular with our taste testers.
The striped Breton effect means it is almost like having two eggs in one. Half of the egg is made up of thick and creamy milk chocolate with chopped hazelnut pieces, while the other is rich blonde chocolate studded with popcorn. It is on the sweet side overall but the hazelnut adds some welcome nutty depth.

Melt (£69.99)
Popcorn Shed chocolate popcorn Easter egg
- Available from Popcorn Shed (£25)

Rating: 4/5
We love the fun appearance of this Easter egg with ridged chocolate, a white chocolate drizzle and colourful chocolate beans. Crack it open to reveal a thick layer of chocolate with whole pieces of caramel popcorn enrobed inside. The chocolate is simple creamy milk that's a familiar crowd-pleaser whilst the sweet caramel popcorn brings nostalgic cinema memories, plus some gentle crunch.

Love Cocoa Maldon Sea Salt Dark Chocolate Easter Egg
- Available from Love Cocoa (£14.95)

Rating: 4.5/5
This vegan-friendly egg is based on one of Love Cocoa’s best-selling chocolate bars, combining single-origin dark chocolate with a hint of sea salt. The glossy chocolate has a good snap and fruity notes for a well-rounded flavour, and uses British sea salt to cut through the richness of the chocolate. Plus, we love that the packaging is all plastic-free.

Cox & Co. Blood Orange Crunch egg
- Available from Cox & Co. (£12.50), Jarrolds (£13.60)

Rating: 4.5/5
A chic, grown up egg at a great affordable price. This egg has shattering thin chocolate with great snap. Impressively, it has a distinct blood orange flavour that separates it from just regular orange chocolate. The chocolate is blended with blood orange extract and crunch is added from Colombian roasted cacao nibs. The 60 per cent single origin dark chocolate is fruity, well rounded and melts really nicely on the tongue. Chocolate orange for grown ups!

Happi Choc oat milk chocolate egg – cherry & almond
- Available from Jarrolds (£13.50)

Rating: 4/5
Looking for a vegan easter egg that's not dark chocolate? We've finally found a great milk chocolate alternative with Happi's deliciously creamy oat milk chocolate eggs. They're free from dairy, gluten and soya, plus they're lower in sugar than most brands.
The plain milk version is suitable for most tastes, the texture is spot on and the flavour isn't too sweet. But this year there is a new cherry and almond flavour, with small pieces of crunchy almond and tangy freeze dried cherry pieces. Try this Easter egg for a delicious treat that happens to be largely allergy-free.
